A Missed Opportunity

Due to an unforeseen recording site snafu, this week’s ART TAP interview didn’t come about.  But my intended guests, Andy “Shaggy” Korty and Brian K. Morris were able to share some info on a special project they’ve been working on, in anticipation of Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 4th.

“Free Comic Book Day (from www.freecomicbookday.com) is an annual event founded on the belief that for every person out there, there’s a comic book they’ll love. Every year, on the first Saturday in May, the industry comes together to give away free comics and encourage fans, both old and new, to flock to the best place in the comic book community: local comic shops. These are the hubs of our community, where fans can come together and discover new comics, make lifelong friends, and find a sense of commonality.”

Andy, Stan Timmons, Kevin Halter, Mark LeMieux, and Brian concocted a short story at the last Free Comic Book Day at Blue Moon Comics on Earl Street in Lafayette.  The story, “Meat Your Customers Half Way,” under the “Lab Rats” title, will be published by Empire Comics Labs (http://empirecomicslab.com), who also publish “ACTIONTHOLOGY!” and “Cemetery Plots.”  The story is of a comic shop owner whose girlfriend has found a unique way to deal with comic shop attendees who only want things for free.  Through a special kind of magic, she transforms the loiterers into hot dogs to be consumed by real customers. But when the spell goes wrong, the fun truly begins. “That is when,” Brian says, “Andy's twisted imagination comes unchecked. And I couldn't be prouder of the boy.”

Look for “Meat Your Customers Half Way” this Free Comic Book Day at Blue Moon Comics (http://www.bluemooncomics.net)!
