Episode 005 features an interview with Danny Weiss, performer and band leader throughout Northern Indiana and lecturer of Music Theory and Jazz History in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue University. I've known Danny for quite a while and I’m happy to feature his thoughts on music, improvisational jazz, and encouraging a culture of participation. You can find Danny’s webpage here.
I also mentioned an article I recently found on a blog called Colossal on early bootlegging of jazz and rock n’ roll music pressed onto thick X-ray radiographs scavenged from the dumpsters of hospitals. You can find the story here.
This week's "Look Ups":
Danny suggested seeking out the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
He also refers us to a site covering Jazz in Chicago, a Chicago Music Calendar.
